Saturviit, Inuit Women’s Association of Nunavik, is pleased to announce its third regional women’s conference, to be held in Kangirsuk from March 27 to 31 2017.
The conference will be an unique opportunity for Nunavik women to gather and share our views on important issues such as family challenges, parenting, addiction, housing, child advocacy. It will be a forum for women to express the challenges we face, but also a way to highlight the positive aspects of our lives and focus on our talents as mothers, entrepreneurs, artists and seamstresses. The 5-day conference will offer open discussions and presentations. Some sessions will be recorded for broadcast on regional radio to reach a wider audience.
This conference will be an occasion for Saturviit to celebrate its 10th anniversary. Women will be invited to reflect on the changes occurred during the last ten years and to share their visions and hopes for the future. A feast will be offered at the end of the week. Saturviit will also hold its annual general meeting during the event. Childcare assistance will be available.
Arnaliat Nipingit 2017 is inviting two women per community and from the South to participate by paying their travel and accommodation. If you want to apply, fill out the application form at your municipal council or call Mary Nassak, the conference organizer, for help. Deadline for application is February 28 2017.
